Basic Pistol Course

Looking to take the necessary steps towards obtaining your License to Carry (LTC)?

Start your journey with our comprehensive Basic Pistol Course, designed to set you on the path to obtaining your LTC. This course is taught by our founder, who is an NRA and USCCA instructor, an NRA Range Safety Officer and an ACS Stop the Bleed Instructor. In this class she'll teach you firearm safety, and will help you to build confidence while mastering the basic fundamentals.

Discover three simple, lifesaving techniques to help stop bleeding in emergencies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is previous firearms experience required to participate in your programs?

No previous experience is required for our beginner programs. They  are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced shooters.

Some programs are designed for the more experienced shooters and will be labeled as such.

Pistol Sister meets were designed for those who have had instruction and want to practice in a group setting.  Meets are typically an hour long and give you just enough time to work on the skills that you've developed.  For those who want group/private training lessons, just ask!  We will work to meet your scheduling (and skill level) needs!

What safety measures do you have in place during training sessions?

To keep every woman safe, supported, and confident on the range, all Pistol Sisters meets follow strict safety protocols.  A safety brief is held before each meet to alert participants in how emergencies will be handled.  The Pistol Sisters will also defer to all club rules/regulations.

  • Certified Supervision Every meet includes our founder, an NRA & USCCA Certified Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, and ACS Stop the Bleed Instructor, who oversees all range activity and provides guidance.

  • Mandatory Safety Gear All participants must have proper eye and ear protection. New shooters who borrow gear receive a full safety briefing before shooting.

  • Firearm Handling Rules

    • Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.

    • Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

    • Keep firearms unloaded until on the firing line and instructed otherwise.

    • Follow all commands from the Range Safety Officer immediately.

  • Range Conduct

    • No handling firearms behind the firing line.

    • No distractions, horseplay, or unsafe behavior.

    • All shooters must remain aware of their surroundings and other participants.

  • Respect for Skill Levels & Comfort Meets are women‑only to maintain psychological safety. Beginners receive extra support, and no one is rushed or pressured.

  • Emergency Preparedness A certified Stop the Bleed instructor is present, and emergency procedures are reviewed as needed.

How can I join your women's firearms social events?

To join our women's firearms social events, please reach out to Michele.  Many of our events are not publicly posted for safety reasons.  If you are interested in joining us, Michele will meet with you to provide a brief orientation and skills check/qualification, first.
